Visible Midnight Phone Review | Is It Worth Buying?
The Visible Midnight Phone is a great option for those who are looking for an affordable, yet reliable phone. The phone itself has a sleek design with a 6.52-inch display. But does this phone have the features to match its good looks? We’re going to be taking a look at the visible midnight and going over whether or not it’s a good phone to buy in 2022. Let’s find out in our review.
Display
The Visible midnight sports a screen size of 6.52 inches, a resolution of 720p, and a pixel density of 269 PPI. A waterdrop notch appears on the front-facing camera, which is 8 megapixels. For an entry-level phone like this, the display looks pretty decent. It won’t be too big to hold in your hand or carry in your pocket comfortably, but at the same time, it will be decently large for content consumption, so everything will show up larger on it. If you’re reading, it will be a good one for that because it has a tall and narrow screen. And if you’re watching a video or something like that it’s gonna have a nice cinematic look to it.
it isn’t the brightest display available, but it is pretty acceptable for this price range. I do think the display is pretty good, but compared to pretty much every other phone in the price range it’s not really going to stand out that much. Additionally, the viewing angles aren’t really the best on this phone because of the regular LCD Display; you really have to be looking at it straight on in order to see it really well. That’s pretty expected the overall design does look pretty decent.
Storage
We’re getting 32 gigabytes of internal storage on Visible Midnight with MicroSD card expansion. I personally think the storage isn’t that great. I know that this is only an entry-level phone, but 32 gigabytes is no more than the average user needs. You only get 14.98 gigabytes on this phone. Because most of the storage is actually just being used by the system, which you can’t have, and If you just install a few apps on the phone just basic apps the phone storage will be full.
So with this phone, I definitely recommend getting a micro sd card so you can offload some of that stuff. But even a micro sd card really doesn’t beat having more internal storage on the phone itself. So if you’re a power user I definitely would suggest looking at a phone with more internal storage because 32 gigabytes probably isn’t gonna cut it.
Wireless Charging
One interesting thing about this phone that does stand out from other phones in the price range is that it has wireless charging. This phone actually does support 10-watt wireless charging which I’ve personally been using constantly on this phone to charge it. It works pretty well and While this feature isn’t a game-changer by any means, it’s still nice to have. I personally, have a lot of phones, and sometimes I just don’t have enough space to charge them all at once, so being able to stick this phone on a wireless charger is really nice and convenient. Now, most of you are probably not going to have as many phones as I do, but still, wireless charging is a nice thing to have. The fact that a phone has wireless charging doesn’t necessarily make it better than another one.
Security Features
For Security features, this phone does have a face unlock and fingerprint scanner as well located right on the power key. In my opinion, the spot for the fingerprint scanner is great because if you’re going to be touching your power key to wake up the screen, being able to unlock it at the same time is nice. Also, I’m glad that it has both options so if you’re in a situation where you can’t use face unlock at the moment you can always use a fingerprint scanner and vice versa.
Rear Camera
We got a triple camera with a Visible Midnight phone, A 13-megapixel main camera, A 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel depth-sensor camera. This is a pretty good camera setup there’s no macro camera. But in my opinion, macro cameras are more of a niche type of feature and an ultra-wide camera is a lot more useful. It has a lot more practical applications for the average user so I am happy with this setup.
Here Are Some Photos Taken With The Main Camera
As you can see, they’re not amazing by any means and are not at the $1,000 flagship level, but if you want to take some nice pictures for social media or something similar, they’re definitely usable. The colors and details look great, but one thing about this phone that really stands out to me is how bright the pictures are. A lot of the time, lower-end phones like this even in excellent lighting struggle to capture bright colors. So if you’re trying to get some photos you want to keep whether it’s for social media or something else this phone is going to get the job done.
Here’s a Photo Taken With The Ultrawide Camera
Just keep in mind that, with this phone as with pretty much any ultra-wide camera, photos taken with an ultrawide camera are typically going to be a little bit lower quality than photos taken with the main camera, unless you’re talking about the highest-end flagship phones. That being said, it still does take some decently nice photos that are usable in most situations.
Now, this was a portrait-mode photo, and I’m actually pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. The background was blurred really nicely, and I could hardly tell what the subject of this photo was even supposed to be myself, but the phone obviously figured it out and it does look nice. However, this photo wasn’t nearly as bright as the others, but there are many reasons for that. The bottom line is that portrait mode does work on this phone, and again, if you want to take better photos, the Visible Midnight phone will get the job done.
Video
The video quality on this phone isn’t great, but if you’re using it for Snapchat or similar services, it should be fine. It can record up to 1080p on both the rear and front cameras, which is pretty standard and nothing out of the ordinary. However, if you’re going to be shooting videos that you want to keep, such as a b-roll or something with audio in it, I’d probably advise against doing that because the video quality isn’t the best.
Geekbench, Processor, Ram
Now internally this phone is getting three gigabytes of ram with the MediaTek helio p22 processor. I ran a Geekbench 5 Benchmark test on the phone and it came back with a single-core score of 147 and a multi-core score of 820. It’s really not bad but keep in mind these scores don’t really mean a whole lot unless you have something to compare them to. I would recommend running this test on your current device and comparing it to this score to see if this phone would be an upgrade.
The phone has been running pretty smoothly for me; there haven’t been many performance problems, though a few apps, like Geekbench 5, have crashed on this phone. This doesn’t happen very often, but if you use your phone constantly, you’re bound to experience the same problem from time to time. I’d say if you’re more of a heavy user, you might want to consider choosing a different device with a stronger processor, but if you’re just using your phone occasionally, then it will get the job done and you probably won’t run into too many issues.
Battery
The battery of the Visible Midnight phone is a pretty average battery definitely not small by any means but not really that large. We’re getting a 4 000 milliamp-hour battery that supports 10-watt fast charging. The fast charging is definitely a nice bonus because if you’re in a situation where you need to charge it up faster it’s of course going to come in handy. A 4000 milliamp-hour battery is not small by any means and will provide you with plenty of battery life both now and in the future. Additionally, because you will have more battery life than you need, the battery’s deterioration over time won’t have as much of an impact on your daily life as it would with a smaller battery, such as one found in an iPhone or similar device.
NFC
This phone does not have NFC, which isn’t really a surprise because most entry-level phones, at least those in this price range, don’t have NFC. However, I was kind of hoping it would because it has wireless charging, which is also somewhat unusual for a phone in this price range. However, since this phone lacks NFC, you won’t be able to use a contactless mobile payment service like Google Pay on it.
Conclusion
in the terms of conclusion, is the visible midnight worth buying in 2022? I would say it’s definitely worth buying. Sure there’s really not a whole lot that’s amazing about this phone but there’s also not a whole lot wrong with it. It has a fairly good camera for what it is, and wireless charging, which is a nice feature to have again, the fingerprint reader performs admirably. I wouldn’t base a decision around that specific feature but compared to lots of other entry-level phones since mostly everything else is going to be more or less the same that’s an edge this phone has. Especially if you’re just looking for a device to do the bare minimum like sending text messages making calls maybe a little web browsing and social media use it is a pretty good all-around entry-level phone.
